Privacy Policy

Hero To Hire (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates herotohire.com. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the site, you agree to this policy.

Who this applies to

Customers who request quotes or search for Heroes, and providers (“Heroes”) who create profiles, subscribe, or respond to jobs.

Information we collect

• Account details: name, email, password (stored by our auth provider, not in plain text on our pages).
• Quote requests: job description, service type, zip code, preferred contact method, phone when provided, preferred Hero or branch, and quote deadline.
• Hero profiles: branch of service, duty status, services, experience, bio, city/zip, license and insurance notes, photos, and verification documents you upload.
• Recommendations: your name and email, plus the Hero’s name, email, and phone if you provide them.
• Payment data: processed by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
• Technical data: IP address, browser, device type, and pages visited, used to run and secure the site.

Cookies and login

We use cookies and similar storage so you can stay signed in and so the site works. We do not currently use advertising or remarketing cookies. You can block cookies in your browser. Some features, including sign-in, may not work if you do.

Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. There is no common standard for that signal. We do not respond to it at this time.

How we use it

• Match customers with Heroes and send quote requests.
• Show public Hero profiles that you choose to publish.
• Process subscriptions and Featured upgrades through Stripe.
• Review identity and service credentials.
• Send transactional email (invites, confirmations, job alerts).
• Improve the marketplace, fix problems, and prevent abuse.

Who we share it with

We share information only as needed to run the service:

• Supabase — database, file storage, and login.
• Stripe — payments and subscriptions.
• Resend (or later our own email domain) — transactional email.
• ID.me or a similar verification partner, if and when that integration is turned on.
• Matching Heroes — job details needed to quote. Free or unverified Heroes may see limited / masked job information.
• Authorities, when required by law, a valid legal process, or to protect someone’s safety.
• A buyer or successor, if Hero To Hire is sold or merged.

We do not sell your personal information.

Photos and ID documents

Profile photos and work-gallery images may appear on public profile pages. ID and credential uploads are for verification review. Do not upload documents you are not allowed to share.

Security

We use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect information. No website can promise that data will never be lost, misused, or intercepted. Use a strong password and keep it private.

Retention

We keep account, profile, quote, and payment records as long as needed to operate the marketplace, meet legal requirements, and resolve disputes. You may ask us to delete an account. Some records may be kept where the law requires it.

Your choices

• Update your profile from the Hero or Client dashboard.
• Ask us to correct or delete personal information by emailing support@herotohire.com.
• Cancel a paid subscription through Stripe customer billing or by emailing billing@herotohire.com.
• If we later send promotional email, you can opt out using the link in that email. We may still send account and job messages.

Children

Hero To Hire is intended for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If we learn that we have, we will delete it.

Governing law

This policy is governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes relating to privacy or this site will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Connecticut.

Changes

We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
